Drops are now deprecated. After a good run, I've learned I can publish sunrises faster when I do just a few at a time, as a time allows, rather than committing to twelve at a time. This will allow me to catch up on publishing faster. See the most recent sunrises to be published.

Drop two! I’m sitting here and flipping through 8,599 sunrise photos from 2020, still entirely overwhelmed by the scale of this project and the backlog of photo editing I’ve accumulated. Let’s do a little math. If I keep up with publishing 12 photos a week, that will take an entire 30 weeks to complete 2020, and another 30 weeks to complete 2021. At the same time, the project is growing at a rate of one sunrise per day in 2022.

The publishing process today, is different than where things left off in 2019. Throughout 2019, I published each month of photos as an entire batch. This gave me the ability to see an overview of editing an entire month, and choosing which photos to published based on the selections from other mornings. I enjoyed this editing method a lot.

Now, it’s all different. Essentially, I’m picking days at random (or by request), from each month, choosing the photo I feel best represents that outing without comparing what compositions I have used elsewhere in the month. It’s likely there will be a lot more similar compositions side by side.

After moving to a new place at the beginning of the pandemic, just across from the beach, you’re now going to see a lot more sunrises from the Marquette Lighthouse, McCarty’s Cove, and Shiras Park. For all locations, check the map.

While editing this drop, I learned it’s approximately a 5-hour process to publish a new batch of twelve sunrises. Lots of work ahead.
