Far from the best photo, and certainly not a traditional photo, but an important one. This showcases the midges that swarm the water in early to mid-summer near the beach. They’re harmless, and aren’t bothered by a humans presence. As the project has gone, its been important to pick up on these subtle changes of the season. For the first couple of years I was fascinated with these flies. Still am, but now I just know of their eventual return when we get to July. Another fine detail of Lake Superior seasons.
