Musings [140 words]
In retrospect…
The broken glass in the parking lot became something I had to walk over every morning. Eventually, week after week as other vehicles and people passed over, the glass would get spread and dissipate.
However, it doesn’t represent the experience of the time. This was two months into the COVID-19 pandemic and the shutdown in Michigan, including shuttering the doors of U.P. Supply Co..
It had already been a surreal experience in the world, but I never anticipated the direct impact it would have on sunrise. While more people were trying to socially distance and find space outside, it was also the case that parks were closed, no parking signs were around the loop at Presque Isle, and playground equipment was all fenced off.
This photo, more than most, tells the sunrise experience of April and May 2020.
