Musings [121 words]

It’s not quite the green flash, but it’s close.

These two photos are possible the two photos at this point of the project taken to the closest decisecond to the moment the sun crosses the horizon. In the wide angle photo, you can’t even make out the sun is there.

These two photos are taken approximately 17 seconds apart.

The moment the sun crosses the horizon
The moment the sun rises above the horizon

For as long as this project has gone on, it is this precise moment on the horizon (on a clear day) that gives me such great joy. The way the sunlight appears to pierce its way over the horizon is so quick.

I’ve been on the lookout for the green flash, I think I’ve seen it. But capturing it will be harder.

As it has gone lately, this might not mbe my actual favorite from this morning’s photos, but it’s a little more unique and representative of the project, showing more of the location and landscape, where I simply have more than I could ever need of the waves and sky as the sun peaks over the horizon.

I love how these three capture the difference of a few minutes. At first the sun is visible, but not kissing the water, as it still needs to rise the tiniest bit to illuminate the waves.
