Musings [189 words]

I could have driven for endless hours this morning. There’s soemthing about driving on fresh snow covered rows where you’re making fresh tracks. My car never seems more silent or peaceful, and of course it’s a little more fun to push down the gas around the corners.

Something that’s been consistent about these mornings is spending a little time driving each day (most days anyhow). Similar to bringing my camera outdoors, driving has always been a comfortable place of solitude for me, where I find myself grounded again.

Mostly, it began during the Hometown Invasion Tour. During the trip I had very little time to myself other than my drive time. The rest of the time I had to be “on”, always aware of being a considerate house guest, trying to be engaging, and moving at a pace that had me change beds every 2.8 days for a year. I longed for the drives.

Though I have considerable amount of time to myself today, it is still full of distractions, obligations, and worrying about all the looming deadlines.

The morning drives may be nearly as beneficial as the sunrise.
