Musings [267 words]

The last time I stood here I was with Joe Pera.

Tomorrow, I get to publish another batch of sunrise photos. It’s become an end-of-month ritual that I cherish. But, if all goes according to plan, that means there are only two more left. More and more I think to myself, I can’t stop on December 31. Given that I make it that far, we’ll see what happens on January 1, 2, 3…

Today there are no meetings. No interviews. No deadlines for thingss that have to be done by tomorrow. No group text messages from festival organizers listing task upon task. I was in that rhythm, a stressful one, and I’m trying to find my groove at a slower pace that’s more sustainable for a couple months.

For example, I’m at Huron Mountain Bakery eating a donut and drinking a coffee after dropping my car off at the shop for new tires – going to need to sell more prints to pay off those tires, sheesh. I haven’t sat down with a laptop post sunrise to write, collect thoughts, and reflect in a very long time.

It’s time to recalibrate.

Wetmore Landing is beautiful. Little Presque park is beautiful, I think more beautiful, but not by a large margin. However, anytime I’m at Little Presque I’m in awe and feel inspired. Yet, each time I’ve been to Wetmore Landing during this year, that feeling of inspiration has been absent. How can that be? Maybe it’s like when you have a crush on someone, and as you get to know them, you realize there’s just nothing there.
