Musings [243 words]

There was a time, long ago, when I was obsessed with the JWT’s of the world. Young & Rubicam. Ogilvy. Grey. TBWA\Chiat\Day. Leo Burnett. Crispin Porter Bogusky.

Sometimes I still dream of that world. I wonder if I could even be a part of it any longer, if I could even create something relevant, or if anything I’ve done would even be able to land me an internship.

It used to be the dream, kickstarted by portfolio school at Creative Circus or Miami Ad School.

Everyone once in a while I do a deep dive into that world. When I was in Lansing, I had peers and colleagues that were familiar with that world. But here, in Marquette, in Michigan’s remote Upper Peninsula, it feels like a distant world.

It’s a fun day dream. It goes along with my question, the impact I’ve made in the Upper Peninsula, could I have the equivalent impact if I was playing in a larger pond? I may never know. Or I may?

I still long to be connected to that world, and all of the Mountain Dew shenanigans has made it very top of mind.

Speaking of which, only a few days before my Mountain Dew tweet, Mountain Dew announced after 46 years with BBDO New York that they would switch to TBWA\Chiat\Day New York. It would be amazing to be in a meeting and conversation like that one day.

From Marquette to Madison Avenue. ✌️
