November, when the average sunrise temperature drops below freezing once again. As the temperatures fall, there are a few inevitable mornings where I am unprepared and underdressed, freezing my ass off. The acclimation process begins. I never make that mistake in January or February (other than entirely forgetting to bring a jacket for my February birthday road trip in 2020).
Whether the data agrees, I am not sure, but it feels abrupt that in November the skies so quickly turn to gray. And not in the fun way that October offers. Not only is it increasingly rare to see the sun, but it seems the skies turn to a solid sheet of desaturated blue. Yet the grayest ays are yet to come.
November brings the end of daylight saving time. Depending on the exact date, November offers the latest sunrise of the year, as late as 8:37a.m. here in Marquette.
By now, the fall gauntlet has concluded, and I now contend with the busyness of the holiday season.
