July is long awaited because it means bare feet, shorts, and a t-shirt at sunrise (most days). June provides a few days for this option, but not as many as you might think. It’s along Lake Superior, in the Upper Peninsula, at the coldest time of the day. And that water takes a long time to warm up.
By July, I am in full summer mode. Long enjoyable mornings heading to the coffee shop right after sunrise, and enjoying the quiet of the town at 6:30 a.m.
By July, especially after July 4, the beach starts to get a little busier, especially at McCarty’s Cove. My introverted self becomes a little more cautious of where I go in the summer, so that I still keep to myself.
