February! My favorite month of the year. Not only does it include my birthday, but it also includes Valentine’s Day, which has always been a favorite holiday of mine. Also, leap day.
More than any month of the year, February presents a few challenging questions every morning. How many layers do I need to wear? Will I need to shovel out my car? How willing am I to trudge through the snow?
Beginning in Lake Superior, Superior is typically frozen as far as the eye can see. On a still morning, it can make for the quietest sunrises of the entire year. You can be standing on the largest freshwater body in the world and not hear the faintest sound of a wave.
“Why, what’s the matter, That you have such a February face, So full of frost, of storm and cloudiness?” ― William Shakespeare
