Drops are now deprecated. After a good run, I've learned I can publish sunrises faster when I do just a few at a time, as a time allows, rather than committing to twelve at a time. This will allow me to catch up on publishing faster. See the most recent sunrises to be published.

Not every week of sunrises is full of inspiration. Earlier this winter was one of the most inspiring stretches of sunrises since this journey began. This last week, a little less so. Variety can play a part, or some inclement weather, or just good energy. Seeing the sun once at sunrise in the last nine mornings, doesn’t necessarily help.

However, this batch of sunrises was a delight to edit. These were some very enjoyable mornings, some magical mornings. My favorite in this batch is comparing June 18, 2020 to January 29, 2019. The June photo was mostly an afterthought. I remember being there, thinking might as well try and take a matching composition, and they’re pretty darn close. It wasn’t my favorite photo from that June morning, but being able to juxtapose the two mornings is a delightful for me.

In other updates, courtesy of my pal Kurt over at @GreenStoneMQT, he shared with me the walkings of Tom Turcich, who walked around the world for some seven odd years. I’ve long had an affinity for these sort of endurance projects, especially when they encompass some sort of documentation as Tom has done. On day 612 Tom wrote the following…

“The great thing about walking everyday is that despite being exposed to the elements I have a purpose each and every day; walk. I never fall asleep unsure what I’ll do with tomorrow. I know I’ll learn a little more and grow little more with each new area I pass into.”

The exact same words can be said for watching sunrise every day. I really loved reading that, figuring I couldn’t distill the experience as simply as Tom has. Sunrise 612 was a long time ago now, September 3, 2020.
