Well this one one special.
I came here this morning with the intention of Orehenge. In the past, I would have had more hope. But now over two years in, I was fairly certainly the sun wasn’t going to break through. In addition to feeling introverted and not wanting to be in a crowd of people, I opted to walk down the Fish Dock. It did not disappoint.
However, what is most special to me is the two photos below.
Here is January 20, 2021…
Compare this photo to January 17, 2019…
Two years and three days apart, they could not be more identical. While I have this same composition during very different mornings, and entirely different seasons, I am both dumbfounded and delighted how similar these two images are.
This type of sunrise (I hope to name and categorize it one day), one of the most glorious, is a rare sunrise. At most, maybe there will be three sunrises like this during the course of a winter. I just happened to be in the same place, during the same season, where even the amount of snow is similar.
One of the biggest differences? At some point, Thill & Sons added an entryway.
I was tempted to use this near identical photo for today’s published sunrise, but I don’t have one anything like today’s official selection.
Several people were gathered to watch Orehenge. It gets quite busy now. Some people blame me. Sorry, not sorry.
