Musings [225 words]
Only on a few occasions have I realized or intentionally returned to the same location on the same date as a precious year.
This is one of those.
While it’s not today’s official selection, I was very deliberate in taking the exact same composition from 2019.
It was not easy.
In composing it, I was deliberate in looking at specific details. I pulled up the website to reference the 2019 photo. I used the two outside trees in yellow and blue were the first key markers, to make sure they were near the edge of the frame. From there I made more incremental adjustments, such as the branch and rock and rock in their respective red and green circles.
At first sight, they look awfully close, and I was proud of the alignment. But once you overlay the two images and fade between them, you can clearly tell where the differences exist.
While still tempted to publish the identical versions, that hasn’t been the purpose of the project. Though earlier this year in September, I dedicated 10 days to the exact same composition, and to this day I’m still decided how to edit and publish those.
In the end, I the comparison, especially because they were such different mornings, one with crystal clear skies, and one as gray as can be.
And I’m done rambling.
