A recollection…
A year and a half later, I have a decent memory of that morning walk at Presque Isle. As seen in the outtakes, I particularly remember spending some time with those spider webs, and looking back behind me taking two last photos. And of course the birch bark, partially an homage to [REDACTED].
The photo looking back down Peter White Drive was my favorite photo when looking at the morning’s photos with no other reference. However, the photo above was taken intentionally with the goal of matching this photo from January 29, 2019.
Turns out, it was a identical match in composition, and I am particularly delighted in seeing the two seasons juxtoposed so wonderfully. It certainly wasn’t what I was looking to capture that morning, but more of a, “Well, I’m here, might as well.”
At 64º, it was a warm morning, even for mid-June in Marquette. I remember the feeling of the unabated sun once it got above the horizon, and sneaking back around the corner of Black Rocks to cool a thin layer of sweat.
