Another sunrise edit I struggled with. To begin, I love the low angle and shallow depth of field showing the different layers of ice and open water. Zooming out to 17mm, I love to see the movement of the ice and water with a slow exposure. Ultimately I went with this selection, to show the few snowflakes on the beach, the breakwall in the distance with the light on, and a little texture in the clouds. Based on 2019, it still comes across to me as a fairly unique composition and morning with the ice.

Yes, it’s February 1 in Marquette and there’s no snow and I’m wearing skateboard shoes. Where’s the snow?

I got a little destructive. But who can resist the urge to break a perfect sheet of ice? If that’s you, I don’t know how you do it!
