Musings [173 words]

This morning I proved to myself I can go an entire night without sleep and then get to the top of Sugarloaf well ahead of sunrise. Motivation and inspiration were running through my veins last night (and still) in a way I hadn’t seen in ages. It felt so good, so right.

Also, it was about 39º atop Sugarloaf this morning. That is an entire 70º warmer than the last time I was up there.

Overheard on top of Sugarloaf this morning: “All that [hiking] for just a gay photo.” I wonder what it’s like moving through the world with that mindset.

For years I have loved to take naps on top of Sugarloaf. The perfect summer day with a cool breeze, it’s everything. There is an assortment of rocks with varying contours for you and all your buddies. And grassy spots too. I took some time to get horizontal on a cozy, perfectly contoured rock, but I was just too wired to stay there today. And, my damp feet were cold.

Fuel more Sunrises

There is plenty more to come from Year of the Sunrise. You can always add a cup of coffee to keep me going strong in the mornings, or a tank of gas to get me to some new places, as the sun keeps rising.
