Musings [204 words]
This is my third and final morning waking up in Ypsilanti, and my first sunrises of the year outside of the Upper Peninsula. Directly behind where I’m staying is a beautiful park and there’s a section of Ford Lake that exposes a little more of the horizon for the sunrise. However, the sun did not shine, the only time it did while on Thursday while I was at the DO (something) conference and inside all day.
I really wanted it to shine, more than I have the rest of this year. But each morning was equally rainy and drizzly. But this project has never been about beautiful mornings day in and day out.
There is so much comfort in old friends. On Thursday I spent the day with a few old friends from Lansing, people I feel completely comfortable and relaxed around, which seems to be more rare as the years go by. And last night was hanging out with two of my freshman year roommates, friends I’ve now known for almost 18 years. There’s a lot of comfort that comes with time. And even more comfort that comes with familiar faces, road tripping, time spent alone in a gorgeous Airbnb, and good coffee.
