Spring has sprung.
And bullies will never go away.
Hockey is undoubtedly the greatest passion I’ve ever had. I hardly knew what it was when little Tommy told me to sign up in kindergarten. So I came home from school to ask my parents if I could play. Sure enough, they signed me up. Over the years of my youth it was my life and became my first true love.
And why did I quit? Bullying, hazing, and teasing.
I wanted to win, be competitive, and improve my skills. Most of my teammates didn’t seem to see it that way. Then there were the locker room boxing matches which I was forced to particpate in. So I quit. The last thing I was going to do was play with those same guys at the high school level.
I was going somewhere with this. Public shaming. The Bully in the White House. How sad, that I left the thing I loved most, because I was hazed and bulled. Sadder yet, that nobody knew.
Oh, and I was a bully at least once, verbally. But a single punch to the mouth by a kid twice my size took care of that.
It’s absolutely absurd that we have such a classless act of a President who lashes out verbally at anyone he chooses. He’s 72, President of the United States, and appears to have never learned the lesson that I learned in 3rd grade. I guess he never got punched in the face by someone twice his size, and though it’s not something I condone, it certainly does the trick sometimes.
