Musings [203 words]

I want to fundamentally change the way we talk about Winter. Especially here, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Instead of saying it’s the worst February ever, we should be saying it is the best February ever.

Instead of saying this blizzard is miserable, we should be saying this blizzard is wonderful.

Wether we choose to live here, or we live here by circumstance, we live here and we can’t do anything other than face the weather head-on. It’s best that we all learn to embrace it, find the wonder of it, and enjoy the sting of wind-burned cheeks.

Let’s all be winter enthusiasts.

This is coming from a guy who has never had four-wheel or all-wheel drive, never had a snowblower, no automatic starter, never had a garage, and as my mom would say, I still don’t own proper winter boots (she’s been hapring on me aobut this for two decades). If you have these things, I hope you’re enjoying winter even more than I am. If you have fat tire bikes, and skis, and snowshoes, then you better be loving it even more. I have none of the above, but I have my camera, two feet, and a sense of wonderment.
