The first sunrise going inland. Clearly no sun, which I knew ahead of time. My hope however, was to capture a village of ice shanties. I’ll make that effort another day, from Teal Lake, or elsewhere.
Words are much harder to produce than photos. Words are harder to come by than a sunrise that actually shines in the middle of an Upper Peninsula winter. But that hasn’t always been the case. Since my teenager years I’ve loved the physical act of putting words onto paper, which eventually translated to typing words on a screen.
Journaling and letter writing was a significant part of my life and daily routine throughout my teenage years. During my senior year of high school I set up an independent study with the goal of picking a single topic each school day and filling no less than a single page with words. I’m trying to get back to that ritual.
